Lovell Meizer Funerals opened its doors on July 1, 2019. “There was a 10 month planning period beforehand which began in October 2018,” explain its owners Kristy Meizer and Shiane Lovell.

“Since our purchase of Bob Rudd Funerals we have been privileged to meet and serve several members of the Goulburn and surrounding communities, and find the town and people to be warm, friendly and welcoming.”

During that planning period “we had the help and support of the previous owners Shane and David who were very helpful in providing us with all the information and assistance required to allow our process to be as easy and seamless as possible. Debbie Carey from Richardson and Wrench Goulburn was also a huge help and support and was the go-between for information. During our planning stage we completed our policies and procedures, business plan and a beautiful transformation of the premises.”

The team they’ve assembled also draws on the experience of the business they purchased.

“We have seven staff members, some of which have come across from Bob Rudd Funerals. Utilising their prior knowledge and skills while bringing a new approach to their previous work environment we are hoping to build a team of dedicated individuals all set on providing the highest standards both personally and professionally.”

Kristy and Shi chose this industry because they want to help people. “The longing to own and operate our own funeral home has come from a place of kindness and compassion.”

They also said “Funerals need not be extravagant and expensive to be beautiful and memorable. Sometimes the smallest gestures make the greatest impact”.

In terms of their backgrounds, Kristy began her career in the funeral industry in 2001. “Being compassionate to the needs of families means Kristy personally performs many needs of the funeral home from consulting with families to arrange the funeral, all mortuary care, funeral directing and following up with families to ensure they are coping,” Shi said.

Meanwhile Shi has 12 years experience in finance and event management . Kristy tells us Shi is extremely organised with an attention to detail. “Shi has also worked with many families over the years to ensure the best production and delivery of video and memorial stationary; our Lasting Tributes. Shi is caring, compassionate and will ensure the most outstanding service is provided to each family,” Kristy said.

The pair has also set out to be very inclusive.

“Our staff are experienced in understanding and graciously accommodating the needs of all beliefs, faiths, lifestyles, and relationships. We’re here to answer your questions and guide you through the decisions you’ll need to make, and will encourage you to take your time to figure out the most meaningful and fitting way to honour your loved one and incorporate the elements that you and your family find meaningful.”
